Breaking News: "She Tried to Leave. Now She's Dead."
🔥 A home burned. A mother murdered. Her children taken by a man with a violent past. This is what domestic violence looks like. This is how it ends when no one listens.
On March 24, 2025, Mayra Catalan-Dimas, 23, was found inside her burning home in Riverdale, Utah. She had been stabbed in the neck. She had been left to die in a fire that investigators say was intentionally set.
🚨 As flames consumed the home, Mayra’s two young children—just 2 and 3 years old—were missing. Their father, Ricardo Trujillo Rojel, was nowhere to be found. A statewide Amber Alert was issued as law enforcement feared the worst.
Hours later, Rojel was found hiding in a remote canyon with the children, unharmed—but their mother was already gone. Her children will never hear her voice again.
The Signs Were There. The System Let Her Down.
❌ In 2021, Rojel was convicted for strangling and punching Mayra while she was pregnant.
❌ In January 2025, he was arrested again for drugs, property damage, and domestic violence in front of his children.
❌ He should never have been free to harm her again. But he was.
How many times must a victim beg for help before someone listens? How many times must an abuser show their true colors before they are stopped?
