Infant Crisis Services' BabyMobile program is offering drive-thru diaper distribution in Guthrie. Services are available to children birth through age three. First come, first served. No appointment needed.

Black Maternal Health Week isn’t a week to celebrate the state of black maternal health. This week was formed by Black Mamas Matter Alliance to bring awareness to the disparities and frightening truth about giving birth as a Black mom in America.

When we get intake inquiries for doula services, we ask, “What fears do you have about birth?” The answers? “Being ignored when something is wrong.” “My voice not mattering.” “Dying.” We see this same theme come up often.

We must do better in America.

You can make a difference in infant and maternal mortality here in the OKC metro. Giving to Imani’s Village has a direct impact on families served. We have a goal of raising $10K this week. That would give us the funds to support not only 10 Black families but also their doulas who are the feet on the ground for our mission. Black Maternal Health Week is an important time to raise awareness about the disparities in maternal health outcomes faced by Black mothers. It’s a call to action to address systemic issues and advocate for equitable access to quality healthcare for all mothers, regardless of race. Here at Imani’s Village, we have some important events aimed at discussing disparities and supporting Black families. Let’s work together to ensure that every mother receives the care and support she deserves.
