That’s a wrap on the Holiday Marketplace! Thank you to our incredible donors, volunteers, and staff for making this year’s Holiday Marketplace magical. Momentum is proud to host our 2024 Momentum CARES Holiday Marketplace again this year, and we are beyond excited to announce that TJX has partnered with us to support our families in need. The first group of Campers at Momentum’s Camp Escapades enjoyed celebrations last Friday with a closing ceremony that included each Camper receiving a “Medal”. Camp Escapades is coming! Momentum’s Camp Escapades is an innovative summer day camp that offers children with special needs a traditional and fun camp experience that is inclusive of their needs. Since its establishment in 1998, Camp Escapades has been providing a summer camp experience for children with developmental disabilities who might not otherwise have the opportunity to do so. Our camp is staffed with occupational, physical, or speech therapists, program assistants, paraprofessional educators, and one-on-one teen volunteers who are the child’s “buddies” throughout the week. Camp activities take place in a safe, encouraging environment and are geared and adapted so every camper can have fun regardless of age or ability. ArtCenter College of Design stands as an exceptional fine arts institution, providing college students with a unique platform to explore design within the realm of accessibility and ability. Recently, students visited Momentum to see our early intervention programs in action. This August, they will present their final projects focused on play for communication. Guillermo's eye for innovation with abstract art and design is a catalyst for artists being able to hone their skills and expand their goals. Artists are creating profound pieces of work using tools and methods that are applicable to everyday living.

Have you ever had a dream that seemed impossible to achieve? Chip, one of the individuals Momentum supports, has always dreamed of going to space. Now, thanks to our Virtual Reality (VR) initiative, he can. Check out this video to see just how “cool” he thinks it is. This new initiative is already making a positive impact on our community, increasing social engagement and boosting self-esteem among the individuals we support. With VR and other new virtual technology like virtual conferencing, individuals can move freely in both real and fantastic worlds.
